Dena Woerner is the Tourism Division Communications Manager for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism. She oversees the research, writing and photography for Arkansas.com including 15 niche Web sites. She serves as editor for Arkansas Tourism publications including the Arkansas Tour Guide, Arkansas Adventure Guide, travel brochures, and industry newsletters. Responsible for public relations, she works with traveling journalists and film crews from all over the world, generating hundreds of thousands of dollars in media exposure annually for Arkansas. She wrote the social networking and media plan for the Tourism Division, launching the division into the social scene in January 2009. Creating an influential presence, Arkansas Tourism is found on many social networking sites. As part of this initiative, VisitmyArkansas.com, a social networking hub, was developed. Through her efforts, Woerner has positioned Arkansas as the first tourism agency in the United States to boast a Whrrl home page, a Hot Deals and Packages iPhone Application and has embraced QR code technology. Woerner teaches Hospitality and Tourism Management courses for the Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) campus through the college of Distance Learning. Prior to joining ADPT, she served as the Director of the Pine Bluff Convention and Visitors Bureau, Director of Specialty Market Sales for the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, Director of Sales for Hyatt Hotels, Inc. Hyatt Place, Fort Wayne location, and served as an instructor for the Hospitality and Tourism Division of the Consumer and Family Services Department for IPFW. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a Master of Arts degree in Professional Communication from Purdue University.
Joe Jacobs is currently the Manger of Marketing & Revenue at Arkansas State Parks. One of his responsibilities in this position is to manage several social media platforms including a 23,000 fan Facebook page, 5300 follower twitter site and a blog site with over 3000 visitors a month. Joe spent 10 years managing discussion boards and creating web sites for small companies in Arkansas. Joe holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina and has worked in every aspect of sales and customer service for over 20 years. When not in front of a computer screen, Joe enjoys spending time with his family and friends outdoors.
